There were dozens of different ECMs and control modules from 1980 to the present.  Each control module controls different components in the vehicles electrical system.

• ECM/PCM - There are several computers found in the 3rd and 4th gen cars.  Many computers are used throughout the years and compatible with many other engines and vehicles.  PROMs and programming may be different.
• ASR/TCS - Traction Control units were optional in 93 and newer vehicles.  Traction Control equipped units used a different rear braking system, special electronic throttle control unit, and different control units.
• Air Bag Control Modules - Air bags were equipped in all 90 and newer Camaro and Firebirds.  Dual airbags were standard on all 93 and newer Camaro and Firebirds. The systems varied from year to year.
